Orvis Helios 3 & #8211; The new fly rods from Orvis
The new Orvis Helios 3 is on everyone's lips for the time being ... Our customers are excited to see the new top fly rods from Orvis .. So are we!
- We have ordered a lot of home of the first models to be launched, namely 9´# 5 and 9´# 8 both in the D model. And we expect them to land at the store in early September.
The new Orvis Helios 3 fly rods come in a wide range of models. A rod series for everything from light trout fishing to heavy saltwater fly fishing for Tarpon and Permit. And then of course what lies in between…. Personally, we look forward to seeing the first models that land in the store, namely classes 5 and 8, which are located at each end of what is most used on the Danish coasts after sea trout. During the autumn and towards the turn of the year the different models will be in store as soon as they are manufactured at Orvis in the US. But so far we have to wait for the other models.
Orvis has long been the market leader in fly rods. When they came back with Orvis Helios 1 this year, it was the easiest on the market, after which they came up with their super delicious Orvis Helios 2 which set a new framework for what to expect from a modern fly rod .. Now Orvis comes with their latest shot at the tribe Helios 3. A rod where emphasis is once again on improving the best, an impossible task some might say… But nevertheless Orvis has been working on this project for the past 3 years. In the new Orvis Helios 3, emphasis is placed on making the most accurate fly rod in the world. Of course it is still ultra light and once again the strength of the bar has improved both in the top but also in the backbone itself.
Of course, if Orvis Helios 3 is to be the most accurate fly rod on the market, it requires a blade that has the backbone to ensure a precise and straight throw without the rod passing friction to the line and taking both the power of the throw and lying the line unevenly in the throw.
We are very excited to have the rod in hand and have it tested by the water ..
Orvis Helios 3 fly rods are divided into two series, D and F.
D- The models are what we in “ old days ”called tipflex (ie a rod with good backbone and top action) – a fast rod, the obvious choice for the coast.
The F-Models are what we in “ old days ”called midflex. A softer blade with full action, and typically the lower models for trout, dry fly and nymph fishing.
“Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything. ”
